Welcome to Just Checking In! We are dedicated to providing compassionate companionship and wellness check-ins for older adults through meaningful, personal front-door visits designed to brighten someone’s day and help families stay connected.
Our trained companions are trusted local community members who visit seniors at their place of residence, bringing a comforting beverage, sharing friendly conversation, and creating genuine moments of connection. During each visit, companions record a short family storytelling video, helping preserve precious memories, personality, laughter, and life stories that families can treasure for years to come. Following each visit, along with the video, loved ones receive a personalized wellness update, offering reassurance and peace of mind that the person they care about is doing well.
Just Checking In was thoughtfully created to address three growing needs facing today’s families and aging population, loneliness and social isolation, families’ desire for reassurance and peace of mind when they cannot be there regularly in person and preserving stories and memories before they are lost with time.
How it Works
What is a
Video Memory?
At each Just Checking In visit, we'll record a video of your loved one asnwering a fun “Question of the Week” designed to spark stories, laughter, and memories. We record these moments so you can actually see your loved one, hear their voice, and gauge how they’re truly doing. We believe meaningful connection matters. During each visit, your loved one's personal companion spends intentional one-on-one time with them through warm conversation, genuine listening, and a fun chat!

Approach
Just Checking In was created from a deeply personal place. As a woman-owned business inspired by my own grandmother’s journey, I saw firsthand the gap that exists between living independently at home and needing full-time care in a facility. My months my grandma didn’t need around-the-clock medical care — she needed connection, consistency, and someone to truly check in on her because my family lived out of state. That experience inspired a service designed to bridge that middle space with compassionate visits, meaningful conversation, wellness observation, and memory-preserving moments that help families feel connected, reassured, and involved from wherever they are.
